8,000 Miles to Healing: The ELOIM Post-Recovery Youth Trip

Introduction: The Vacuum of Recovery The United States is currently battling a severe youth addiction crisis. When a young person successfully completes a drug rehabilitation program, they often face a terrifying vacuum. The drugs are gone, but what replaces them? At ELOI in the USA, our Health focus is deeply rooted in Mental Health. We know that overcoming addiction is only the first step; finding a renewed purpose for living is what sustains recovery.

The Post-Recovery Support Program We offer a radical, life-changing alternative to the standard post-rehab path. We facilitate self-sponsored post-recovery trips to Uganda, East Africa.

  • Hands-On Projects: For a period ranging from 3 months to over a year, these recovering youths are placed on hands-on grassroots projects under our sister organization, ELOIM Uganda.
  • Broadening Experiences: We encourage these young people to travel, discover, explore, and experience life far beyond their geographical boundaries. Whether it is assisting with community outreach or participating in our educational programs, they are immersed in a culture of resilience and faith.

Conclusion: Finding Purpose Through Service The goal of this program is profound: we hope that by the end of their time in Uganda, they will have discovered themselves. By serving others, they find the strength to heal themselves, renewing their minds and finding a lasting purpose for their lives that addiction had stolen.
