Introduction: The Moral Crisis Inside Our Borders
While the United States presents itself as a global leader in human rights, thousands of asylum seekers arriving at our borders face a punitive, profit-driven system of immigration detention. Individuals fleeing persecution and political violence are routinely placed into corporate detention facilities, local jails, and remote containment centers managed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
As a registered 501(c)(3) organization, ELOI Inc. stands firmly against the criminalization of human displacement and advocates for fundamental fairness under the law.
Structural Injustices Inside Corporate Facilities
Inside these isolated facilities, asylum seekers face severe systemic barriers:
- Systemic Legal Isolation: Detainees are frequently transferred across state lines without warning, separating them from family support networks and cutting off access to legal counsel.
- Institutional Racism and Medical Neglect: Minority immigrants bear the brunt of severe medical neglect within detention centers. Basic healthcare for chronic conditions is routinely withheld, creating dangerous health outcomes for vulnerable individuals.
ELOI’s Campaign for Systemic Change
ELOI Inc. acts as an active policy advocate to hold these powerful structures accountable:
- Demanding Transparency: We partner with legal aid coalitions to audit conditions inside regional facilities, documenting abuses and demanding adherence to international human rights standards.
- Advocating for Due Process: We campaign for the elimination of profit-driven detention centers, pushing for human-centered legal alternatives that treat every individual with dignity and fairness.
