The Haven Network: Community-Led Sanctuary for Asylum Seekers

Introduction: The Housing Gap Post-Release

When asylum seekers are legally released from immigration detention centers to await their court hearings, they often step out of confinement with no local contacts, no financial resources, and no immediate authorization to work. Without emergency support, newly released New Americans face an immediate risk of street-level homelessness.

Government administrative systems routinely leave this post-release transition unaddressed. The Haven Network, established by ELOI Inc., steps into this gap by coordinating community-based temporary housing.

How the Haven Network Operates

Our “Host an Immigrant” initiative connects vetted American host families with released individuals and families, creating a structured, safe bridge to independence:

Operational ComponentVetting & Safety StandardOutcome for Guests
Federal ComplianceVerifies active, legal immigration proceedings and official documentation from federal authorities.Full transparency and compliance with immigration court requirements.
Host Vetting & MatchingBackground checks, home visits, and expectations orientation for prospective host households.A safe, stable, and welcoming living environment during case processing.
Border Shelter LogisticsDirect coordination with grassroots transit shelters along the Southern Border.Safe, organized travel and clear arrival handoffs for guests.

Restoring Stability and Peace

By offering a temporary room, access to meals, and help navigating local transit and legal check-ins, host families provide the stability guest families need to recover from the trauma of detention.
