Breaking the Cycle: A Journey from Addiction to East Africa

Introduction: The Mental Health Crisis After Rehab One of the areas ELOI takes most seriously in the USA is Health. Under this program, we focus heavily on Mental Health, specifically the devastating impact of drug addiction on our youth. Rehabilitation is a critical first step, but the journey does not end when the physical detox is over. The hardest part of recovery is finding a renewed purpose for living. Without it, the risk of relapse is overwhelming.

The Post-Recovery Support Program To address this vacuum, we offer a truly life-changing Volunteer Services initiative.

  • The Journey to Uganda: We take young people recovering from drug addiction on a self-sponsored post-recovery trip to Uganda, East Africa.
  • Hands-on Projects: They are placed on hands-on projects under our sister organization (www.eloiministries.org) for a period ranging from 3 months to 1 year, or even more.

Conclusion: Discovering Purpose Through Service We encourage these youths to travel, discover, explore, and experience what lays ahead of their geographical boundaries. Our hope is that by immersing themselves in community service—away from the triggers of their past—they will have discovered themselves and found a renewed purpose for their lives. We envision a world where youth overcome addiction and cultures connect with hope restored.
